Matching a wheel nut with one you already have (your original part)
- Remove the original part from your vehicle and do a visual check with the replacement part.
- The replacement part must be the same thread size.
- It must be the same shape where the nut makes contact with the wheel (this area is called the seat)
- The nuts must have enough internal thread depth or it will not make enough contact with the wheel
- You must make sure the replacement nuts provide as much thread + or - 1mm as the original
- You must be able to get at least 8 full turns
- Check the hex head size to make sure it fits your wheel brace
Basic Safety Information
When removing vehicle wheels, consult the manufacturer's handbook or a qualified mechanic on how to do this safely.
Make sure the vehicle is parked in a safe place on firm level ground. Use suitable jack/axle satands, so the vehicle is safe.
Use suitable wheel chocks to prevent the vehicle moving. APply the handbrake at all times. Wear protective gloves and eye protection.
All wheel fixings are considered to be "safety critical" items as they perform a very important task, keeping your vehicle's wheels safely and securely attached, while allowing easy removal in the event of a puncture or service requirements.
With this in mind it is of the utmost importance that any parts used to fit wheels to any vehicle are the correct specification.
Tighten all wheel nuts to car manufactuers recommended torque setting. Do Not over tighten. DO not use an air gun. Periodically check tightness of all nuts or bolts
