Spigot rings (centre rings) are used to ensure aftermarket wheels, or wheels from another make or model of car, are able to fit centrally on a wheel hub of the vehicle. A wheel can only be fitted to a hub that is of a smaller bore and these hub centric rings (spigot rings) ensure the wheels are sat 100% perfectly central onto the hub. This eliminates wheel wobble which can often be experienced above 60mph, vibrations that can be felt through the steering wheel, uneven tyre wear and in time work the fixings loose. Not using spigot rings can be very dangerous as it causes extra load upon the bolts/studs/ nuts, resulting in a wheel becoming looser or coming off completely either by the fixings breaking or the fixings becoming so loose that they fall off.
How to fit the Spigot RIngs
Step1
Now that you have identified the spigot ring size you need for your wheel and vehicle, try the spigot ring on the wheel hub of the vehicle to make sure it fights tightly over the hub. If it does not then you have not got the correct application for your vehicle.
Step 2
If you have got the correct ring then proceed. Remove the spigot ring from the vehicle hub and fit the spigot ring into the back of your wheels, see step 3 Step 3 and Step 4, and follow instructions.
Step 3
Place the wheel face down on a surface that will not damage the finish of the wheel. The rear of the wheel should now be facing upwards as per the diagram below.
Step 4
Press the spigot ring into the centre hole of the wheel making sure you do not use excessive force as this will damage both the spigot ring and the wheel.
